10 Questions to Ask a Moving Company

Here are Ace Relocation’s Responses to the 10 Questions to ask a moving company.

1.  How long has your company been in the moving industry?

Ace Relocation was started in 1968 by Reg Lammers. Since then, Ace has opened nine branches throughout the country, and has moved over 350,000 people. Each year we complete 15,000 moves for residential, government, military, office, and corporate relocations, making Ace the third largest agent for Atlas Van Lines.

2. Can you provide References?

We have hundreds of positive customer reviews that you can read here.

3. What Licensing and Insurance do you have and can you provide documentation?

Ace is fully licensed with the US Department of Transportation and the Federal Motor Coach Safety Administration (license #1052359). We carry $1 million of liability insurance with $5 million liability umbrella coverage per occurrence.

4. What types of Moving Estimates do you offer?

Ace offers “Binding”, “Bottom-line Discount”, or “Assured Price Protect” estimates depending on the situation and what is best for the customer. We will never hold your belongings hostage due to last-minute added charges.

5. How do you charge for moves?

The price for interstate (across state lines) and long-distance intrastate moves is calculated using the weight of your belongings and the distance they are traveling. Additional charges may apply for extra trucks, crews, special needs, or storage. Local moves (within about 50 miles) are calculated by the number of men and trucks and the number of hours it will take to complete the move.

6. How will you protect my home?

We use extensive methods of home protection including floor protection, door jam protection, wall protection, and banister protection.

7. How will you protect my belongings?

We use most innovative packing methods and materials that are superior to many others. Our high quality packing includes crating, dish packs, shrink wrapping, quilted move pads, foam and bubble wrap and Kraft paper pads.

8. Do you have Workers Compensation insurance?

Ace has workers compensation insurance— beware of movers who don’t

9. What is your Claims process?

If anything were to happen, we would work with you to ensure that you are fully compensated to the degree of your coverage and our liability. Ace has a very low packing claims liability ratio of 1.6% and cargo claims liability ratio of 2.36% (source: Atlas Van Lines World Class Performance Evaluation).

10. When will my Shipment arrive?

The arrival time of your goods depends on many factors including availability of trucks, drivers and crews, the time of year, the distance, and the size of the shipment. We will provide you with a delivery window so you are aware of the earliest and latest possible delivery dates, and notify you 24 hours prior to the actual delivery date.
